Need Help identifying stream audio type to play with RB (solved)
« on: February 22, 2010, 10:29:49 PM »
Hello,

my favorite internet radio just changed from a shoutcast mp3 stream to a mms:// "windows media stream" that includes mp3 as it seems.
I can save it with mplayer to a file.
I would like to have that stream to play with rockbox without re-encoding.
If I name this file .wma I can play it with VLC and Winamp5.
If I name this file .mp3 I can play it also, but it sounds jerky.
The file header talks about mpeg 1 layer 3.

Unfortunately rockbox isnt able to play it as wma. Only jerky as mp3.

I already spent hours to get it done. Here I really need help. :(

Can you maybe check, what filetype it is?
Can I maybe remove/change some headers to make it rockbox playable?
Can I extract the MP3 frames to get a real MP3 without reencoding?

If everything goes wring, i have to reencode it with lame.

Here is a short sample: *removed*
(i dont know if wma is the correct extension)

EDIT: This was fast. "Unhelpful" was very helpful and helped me in chat.
It is Mpeg Audio in a ASF container.
mplayer.exe -identify was able to identify it.
and
mplayer.exe -dumpstream is able to dump it as mp3 file.

Nice. Thank you very much "unhelpful". I already spent some hours in it.

BR
