Repair Sansa e260 LCD screen?

Hi everyone,

My Sansa e200 player has now a broken LCD screen. I say "broken" but it actully isn't, I suspect it's only the connections on the board that are leaking after its 3 years running almost everydays and carried into my pocket. The player itself is working fine so I really want to get it working again!

Here is the problem: The screen is white. Nothing else. Software runs perfectly and I can get the LCD work by twisting the player. The screen appears strange and if y apply the right angle, the display gets fine but as soon a release it, it turns white again. Backlight is normal. The player works, but it is annoying and as I use the player in my car too (yup, directly plugged on the amp!), it gets really annoying to change song and volume

I would like to open it and see by myself but I don't know how to open the device.

So, how can I open the player to get to the LCD screen?
Is there something to do to fix this? (Like heating the pins to weld them back there, with caution of course)

Opening the player is easy.  You need a micro phillips screwdriver. 
1. Unscrew the four screws on the back plate.
2. remove the backplate
3. Remove the battery
4. Unscrew the remaining 4 screws.  They are located near the corners, and were covered by the backplate.
5. Stick your fingernail between the black faceplate and the grey/silver plate.  Run it around the edges.  You will feel the plates unsnap.  They then can be separated easily.

I just want to say thanks because it is working nicely again!

I had trouble removing the screws (thay are pretty small for the screw-driver I had) and opening the unit (almost broke it in two a few times) but I did it successfully. I don't know where is the problem exactly, I just had tu put a tape under the LCD near the connector(?) and it seems to work. I think its broken in the LCD screen itself.

Anyway, I'm really happy because my player will run rockbox for an other couple of month so thanks rockbox for the software and thanks j8048188 for the tip on how to open it!

Im trying to repair my headphone jack now, so I've opened it up many times.
When i'm done replacing it, i'll post how to do it.
