Ipod 1gen locked up
proventure:
Hello everyone.I am new but have an old 1gen nano.Did an update through itunes was version 1.3 i believe.tried to install rockbox and the "Boot loader screen" comes up and says cannot find ipod(basically)i searched quite a bit on line and nobodyseems to know what to do.It will not reboot.restart or anything.the screen is frozen with the error message "cant load rockbox ipod not found"etc, tried all different sequences to get it to reboot or even shut off.Went so far as to unsolder batt and let sit 1 hr.As soon as it lights up the apple logo is ther for a second and then the boot loader tries to load and here we go again. It does not show up in "my computer".Not in itunes or any where. not being recognized by comp.Is there someway to flash anything or what do i have to do.Remember it does not show up on my computer, will not reboot.Thank you all in advance!

Do what that screen tells you: reset the Ipod by holding Menu + Select until it reboots, then immediately hold Play + Select. The Ipod enters emergency disk mode. Connect it to the PC and install the main build -- you only installed the bootloader but not the build.
What _exactly_ did you do to get it into that state? What OS are you running Rockbox Utility on and which version? Please post the output of the Help / Troubleshoot / System Info dialog.

Are you sure you're doing it right? Apple has a nice document explaining how if its unclear to you (check google). The hardware reboot will always work unless you've broken the buttons or something.
