Rockbox General > Rockbox General Discussion

Thank you Rockbox! (surround sound issue fixed!)

kage:
I have a 4.1 surround sound system in my bedroom, and when I was playing music from my ipod on the default firmware, the rear speakers had TONS of white noise in them...not at all satisfactory.
The only times they worked was when I played a CD in the CD player, so I knew they were not broken.

Now that I downloaded Rockbox on my Ipod 5G video, the system works flawlessly!
I never thought that I would be able to turn the system back to "surround sound" with my ipod plugged in!
Crystal clear tunes from EVERY corner of the room! it is a whole new way to experience my music!

has anyone else had something start working better after they installed Rockbox?

MajiKool Dragonâ„¢:
Sound quality is definitely better in Rockbox, and I like the complex sound options provided to me by Rockbox.

I've been using Rockbox for about four years now, and it just keeps getting better and better.

kage:
Im loving it right now
I have had it for 2 days...

The only negative is that now my ipod FM transmitter for my car doesnt work...
I payed $50 for it a few years ago...
Ill probably just boot the ipod back to the original firmware whenever I need to drive somewhere far...
for going to school every morning, I can deal with my techno CD lol

MajiKool Dragonâ„¢:
you could always invest in a regular mp3 player/universal fm transmitter. they're usually cheaper(under $50) and and don't require any special support by the player's software.

kage:
Yeah...This is a minor drawback compared to what I can do with rockbox!
Im loving it more and more every second!
my friend used to tempt me by playing pokemon on the emulator he had on his jailbroken Ipod touch...

I just figured out that I can play gameboy color roms on my ipod now! haha, wait till he sees what I can do...

It also has much better sound output for headphones as well...
My headphones used to be all crackly and bad, but now with Rockbox, they are MUCH clearer!
not completely fixed, but MUCH BETTER!

EDIT: darn, the roms don't save...
I am going to try and see if there is a way to get them to save
