Removing FM radio item from main menu Gigabeat S60

Hi,

I am having fits trying to get consistent behavior with the FM radio in my Toshiba Gigabeat S60.

When it works it works really well.  But seemingly if I do anything like shut down or battery off...or sometimes just start the music player then go back to the FM Radio is will either freeze at a blank rockbox screen, altho the display will fade to black after the time delay, or it will play static or nothing at all but the presets are still there....then I can go back and the FM radio works fine....

So for now, is there a way to remove the FM radio option form the main menu until the FM radio is stabilized

You could simply resist the temptation to select FM Radio

Also, I believe the radio should be working on the Gigabeat S. If you're completely up to date, a proper bug report would be in order.

I believe I am as up to date as a Gigabeat S60 can be.....

I submitted a bug report a couple weeks ago or so when the FM menu wasn't even showing up at first.  I submitted a few follow ups to that report with my more recent experiences....

From a couple other threads, there seemed ot be some issue with the Gigabeat S60's FM Radio chip, also shared with a couple other players, and its probably not the most pressing of issues these days since Toshiba dropped the gigabeat line like a boat anchor.....or so it seems.  I really like my S60, its a shame Toshiba bailed.

Have you updated today? What version of Rockbox are you using?

Hi,

Most current builds for the S60.... I am updating regularly....

For me, RockBox player works amazing !!  Voice works...Themes work....charging while powered on works....Database works....Files works...  Just the FM radio has significant issues.

All in all you guys have done an amazing thing !!

This isn't a very good answer.  State the actual build you're using, not just that its new.

Anyway, it doesn't look like the gigabeat S radio has been touched in a long time.

I update most every day.  The S60 was touched in some way just a few days ago as the upper left screen charging icon went from static to dynamic (in that it moves like a tiny GIF is running rather than block segment screen re-writes).

Sorry if my descriptions are not exactly the same as the programmers use... I do Tech Support, not coding....

Thats all you need to say.

Anyway, skimming the logs, it doesn't look like the gigabeat S radio has been touched in a few months at least, so updating isn't going to make a difference here.

You can remove the option, but you will have to edit the source code then compile Rockbox.  For the record I have no problems with the radio in my S60.
