Sandisk Sansa E200 v2: supported or (oh noes!) not?
Quinn:
I clicked on the little pic of a Sansa E200 v2 on the page with all the player pics, and came to http://download.rockbox.org/daily/manual/rockbox-sansae200v2/rockbox-buildch2.html#x4-60002 which has instructions specifically for that model. So I downloaded the Rockbox Utility (rbutilqt-v1.2.2-linux_x86_64bit.tar.bz2), unpacked, and ran it as root with my player connected.
I got an error message saying the installer couldn't find the network and therefore couldn't determine the version. I plugged in ethernet so that wireless wouldn't be an issue, but got the same message. Since it wouldn't go away I just clicked to go on :-\. Then I got the configuration screen as in the screenshot, and then it told me I had an incompatible model.
Say it ain't so!
My "Settings" says I have firmware v. 03.01.16A. Did I do something wrong or is there no hope?

From the front page www.rockbox.org:

Rockbox runs well on these players, has a complete manual and is supported by the installer:
...
SanDisk: Sansa c200 series (not v2), e200 series (all models), and Fuze v1 (not v2)

Please do also read the Changelog on that page. As you can easily see is the current version newer than the binary you downloaded (there's no updated binary for 64bit linux available), and support for the e200v2 was added to Rockbox Utility with 1.2.3 -- which obviously means that the version you downloaded does not support it.

This is a known problem with that 64bit binary, but unfortunately nobody (could) look into it. The 32bit version works fine.
Quinn:
Thanks to both for your replies. (I did see the line quoted by yapper, but I was hoping that it was out of date since there was a whole page of documentation for that version.)
I take it the 32-bit binary will work fine on my 64-bit system? I'll try the right version. I must admit, I didn't even notice the 64-bit one had a different version number. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm very bad about reading changelogs.
Update about 2 hrs later: Once I had the up to date 32-bit version, it installed without any problems. It's working great. Now I just have to figure out the controls....

How can i tell the diference on models just by the box or do I have to to settings to see the , model? is it safe to buy any fuse and rockbox will work on it?
