rbutilqt crashes installing bootloader - bug in rbutil 1.2.4 - 1.2.3 works fine.

Hi,

I am new to Rockbox, but I wrote my first program in 1971 and worked in the industry ever since.

I CANNOT INSTALL ROCKBOX BOOTLOADER!!!

I have two iPod Video 5th 60GB. These have been upgraded to firmware 1.3.

I have various Windows based computers, either XP or Win2000 most of which are fairly clean and up to date.

Whatever combination of computer, iPod and O/S I use rbutilqt crashes almost immediately with a msvcrt (MS C Runtime library) error

Modver: 7.0.2600.2180 Offset: 000323e4

I suspect I have the wrong version of msvcrt.dll. But can anyone tell me which version I need?

To clarify: if I use rbutilqt to install games or fonts or rockbox itself it works fine.

If I use it to install the bootloader, minimal installation or complete installation it crashes as above.

If I try to uninstall the bootloader rbutilqt says that it cannot find it.

HELP!

Added: This is a bug in rbutil 1.2.4.

Old version 1.2.3 works fine. K

I think you have to make sure that the Rockbox utility is running in administrator mode in order to install the bootloader...

I don't remember Windows XP very well but if its the same as Vista and Windows 7 you can easily do so by right clicking the application icon and selecting "Run as administrator" from the menu.

It's almost close; you would right click and select "Run as...", then pick Administrator.

To the OP: I removed your other thread that you started since it's a duplicate of this one.

I have the same problem and I am sure that my xp profile is admin profile.

Yes, I am running as Administrator. K
