Can't install bootloader on ipod video 80gb

<< < (4/6) > >>

Driver8:
Strange coincidence, Talon. I'm having the same problem today with an iPod Video 5g/30gb installing from Windows 7(x64). The autodetect crashes the utility, installation gives three "could not open ipod" errors, and manual install of the bootloader fails claiming no ipod was found and make sure it's connected and in disk mode---both of those things are already true. This is after restoring the iPod on another Windows computer.

Talon:
yes.... OS is Windows 7(x64) /

(but ipod is right autodetected - i can install new firmware or themes or something else but not bootloader :/ )

Autodetection works because you already have a Rockbox installation on the player. For bootloader installation direct access to the disk is necessary (i.e. by accessing the complete disk, not the filesystem via its assigned drive letter). For some reason opening the disk fails, and the system doesn't return an access denied error.

Do you have some kind of antivirus software running on your PC that might interfere?

Talon:
yes... i'v the ESS... but disabling the security - did not give the effect \

ps: but i can see the disk in explorer!!? such as my HDD...
i see the disk F: - its ipod - and i see files and folders etc.... - so i have access to the ipod?!

saratoga:
You need lower level access then that. Try uninstalling whatever software blocks access or using a different PC.
