H320 with MKxx33GSG series hdd
« on: February 09, 2010, 05:41:16 AM »
Hi All, Am new to this forum and own a H320 iriver player. I have seen 320 GB 1.8inch MKxx33GSG hdd from toshiba. Will this work if I replace my H320 20 GB hdd ? Will my player work fine with 320 gb?

Will it be possible with existing Firmware ( v 1.29) or Does ROCK BOX support it?

Please help!

That HDD is SATA, not IDE so you would at the very least need to use an adaptor as well as that HDD. Also, you'd need to compile your own build with large HDD support in there.

Thanks so much for the response- Happy to know that this is atleast a possibility.

If you could please elaborate on the SATA to IDE converter part - is this just a connection converter adapter readily available ?

Also i will need to use Rock box build of my own - i get that part.

No, converting between SATA and IDE requires actual electronics because they are not compatible at the signal level. Such a device is very unlikely to fit inside a DAP, but you never know.
