Toshiba Gigabeat S60 FM Radio Chip CRAZINESS !! EDITED
« on: February 08, 2010, 02:46:45 AM »
Hi,

Ok so I'm frustrated now.....

The FM Radio had been working for the past several days quite nicely in fact.

Tonite, suddenly it stops coming up after I reboot.  The menu item is there in the main menu, and when I try to start it, it goes to the blank rockbox screen and freezes.

It did this last week before the radio began to work much better by build r24445.

Normally you can feel the hard drive spin up as the FM radio starts up, and the #1 preset pops into place.....now nothing, except oddly enough, the screen will still fade to black after like 20 seconds...but the clock freezes as well as the rest of the player.  Only way to reboot is using the battery switch on the bottom.

I have gone into the Debug Menu, and under FM Radio it says Chip Detected...but all the REG entries are full of 000....Seemingly no data at all.

The screen just goes to the blank RockBox screen and freezes the player...except for the screen fade out.

I repeated the process of freezing the player at the dead FM radio screen....  I noticed that I could press a button and the screen would fade in and the clock while frozen on screen, when I powered the battery back on, the clock was advanced by several minutes.

Altho the clock should have read 00:00 from a battery power on state.

The rest of RockBox seems fine.

EDIT:  I was messing with some of the RockBox settings trying to see if anything had an impact on this FM Radio thing.  I changed the DIsk Spindown from 5 to 20 (I assume thats in seconds) and a couple others....  I shutdown the player....Powered it back up, charged the battery up to 100%....  Try the FM Radio again...suddenly it pops up asking to scan the channels....  OMG WTF !!!  LOL !!  This is making me crazy !!!
