Ipod - Itunes layout or drag and drop

(1/2) > >>

vocrobot:
I have been wondering for a while now how many people who have RB on their iPod keep the music set up so they can listen via the original firmware therefore just using the database to find music via Rockbox, or dispense with that method and drag and drop everything via album folders.

What I miss about having the music set up like that is that when you have playlists you can't go in and see the track names, you just get the iTunes re-named files. Obviously because of the difference between the two this can't be helped but because I don't feel totally confident using Rockbox yet I prefer to have my music organised so it works with the OF just in case I get a bit stuck.

Who uses which method, just interested that's all :)

GodEater:
Unsurprisingly for a Rockbox veteran, I dispensed with iTunes and its evil methods the moment I rockbox'd my iPod.

vocrobot:
I am very tempted to do that but there are a few little things about the original firmware that I still like the main one being playlists are a lot easier to compile but the sound quality isn't as good. I also have some videos so I would be going into OF semi-regularly but most of my content is music.

evilnick:
Maybe it'd be best to use the OF for video and Rockbox for music then?

Chronon:
I haven't used Rockbox on an (5g) iPod for a few years but when I had one I found my music gradually all migrated into a sensible tree structure.  I basically used it as evilnick suggested.
