Ipod 5g 30gb, possible to change the control mapping?

For some odd reason, the left side of my scroll wheel, wont work, and its extremely frustrating having to go around the wheel once per line. So what I'm asking is, is there a way to map the scrolling, to the play and menu buttons? Or really is there a way to change the controls at all?

this has been going on since before I got rockbox, and I've tried reformating, reinstalling the ipod firmware, everything i could think of, and nothing ever helped. So if I could remap the controls for rockbox, it would take a good deal of frustration off of my back.

Yes, but you will have to edit the source code then compile Rockbox.

The file you want to edit is apps/keymaps/keymap-ipod.c

what directory is that under? I searched every one on the ipod and it still doesnt turn up any "apps" or "keymaps" files/folders.

That is not on your ipod.  It is in the Rockbox source code.

i'm a completely new when it comes to coding, but..

fortunately i bought a used 80gig ipod video for 40 dollars today, so, problem solved :-\
