Toshiba MEGF40 Database Stall...and other stuff
« on: January 30, 2010, 11:54:55 PM »
Hi,

Just installed RockBox on my son's F40 today.... The install went pretty clean, until I had to get the database loaded....

It found the music files, but it stuck at like "Building Database....5400 items found...Press Left to Return"  or something similiar...

I found an old thread that said the problem is likely Tagging corruption someplace in the structure....

I did the quick and painful route and just deleted the music files, which I suspect included all of the .SAT files loaded by GigaRoom Software....

I copied all the music files I wanted  from my pc over USB, which by the way seemed to run at USB 2.0 Speeds which was a nice feature !!  My mass copy software reported a steady 12 MB/sec speed....  Roughly 28GB took maybe 30 minutes +/-

The battery charged really strong and seemingly quickly...considering it hadn't been charged in a while...

Sound quality is excellent !!

I don't really see a question here.  However, I will point out that the encryption on the .sat files can be removed according to a procedure described in the wiki.  However, if the files already exist on your PC it is faster to simply delete them from the Gigabeat and copy them directly over without encryption as you have done.
