Clip Quick Menu and Crossfade
« on: January 28, 2010, 05:59:51 PM »
I have been using RockBox on my Clip V1 for a while now and it is great!!!

I found one problem with the Quickmenu....when you select the left key to toggle shuffle (default), the screen goes back to the wps without changing the shuffle setting.

The other quickmenu items appear to work fine.

I also have a Fuze and use crossfeed and crossfade.  On the Clip, crossfeed is available, but crossfade is missing.

Will crossfade be added down the road or the memory capacity just not there to provide this feature?

It would help (at least for me) if the manual for the clip did not include the plugins/demos/apps and other items which are not supported on the clip.

These are just minor points.....Thanks for putting RockBox on the Clip.  It is far superior to the Sansa default.  In my book the Clip with RockBox is by far the best available for use in the gym, etc.

the first issue is a bug, file it in the tracker (link on the left)

the clip probably wont get crossfade if it doesnt have it now becuae of memory issues.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

I disabled crossfade on the clip since it would crash immediately due to lack of buffer.  It might be possible to make it work using a very small buffer so as not to run out of room, but I haven't looked into it.

It shouldn't of course show these - a bug report on flyspray stating which sections appear that shouldn't would be helpful.

Is this just the Sansa clip V1 or do all Sansa clip models have crossfade deactivated?

A limited crossfade (for example 6 seconds or even just 1 second) would be extremly
useful to allow continuous playback in background-music situations.

The clipv2 and clip+ run doom so no features should be deactivated, if you see something missing please tell us

Got my hands on a 2GB clipv2 now and so far eveything is OK.
I managed to crash my v1 models using pitch/timestretch consistently, but with today's current build the problem doesn't occur.

I've got one suggestion about the pitch screen on the Sansa:
It would be very convenient if a long press of the HOME button would leave the pitch screen, too.

Currently you can only leave the pitch screen by holding the slider on the side. This requires both hands for me. Very difficult to do while running/exercising, which is where I use pitch most often. Long HOME as exit is used in many other cases, adding it here would help a lot.

BTW, refurbished clips are sold on ebay.de/.co.uk dead cheap at the moment. Including postage within Europe the 1GB model costs 13 Euro and the 2GB model 19 Euro. The seller is Istor (http://myworld.ebay.de/itstor/) and all the Sansas me and my friends bought arrived aproximately one week after we bought them.
