database initialization problem on e280V2
« on: January 27, 2010, 08:02:54 AM »
i've just updated to the latest rockbox, and cannot seem to initialize my database.
When I try, the speech just repeats the number of entries found over and over, and all that's displayed on the screen is 'building database, # entries found.', # being however many entries I have.
I've ran the process overnight once, reinstalled rockbox, still no luck.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
Note: this is the internal memory, i've never tried sd cards in my player.

Problems can occasionally occur due to problematic metadata.  Will the database build with a small number of files?

that's something i haven't tried yet, hmm.
Most of the songs on my player were ripped from cds, and I went through and attempted to fix tags for those that weren't.
If I initialize the database with a smaller number of files, do I just do update now when I reload all my other music back onto the player?

Yes, you should be able to add files back and update the database.

I took out some of my music files just now, redid my voice and .talk files, then tried to initialize my database.
Now I'm down to 780 entries found. That just keeps repeating over and over.
Any other ideas? Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
