rename the custom statusbar stuff!

right, so its agreed that the name "custom statusbar" doesnt really say much about what it is and outright lies even!

so we need to come up with a good short name for it to go in the menus and manual and everything. we need ideas!
We also need a filename extension to go with it (ie replace the .sbs).

we dont like the name theme at all because a theme is a collection of these skins.

"Main Skin" is about the best we have so far, but its a bit meh... so ideas!

edit: I've been asked to elaborate on what this skin actually is. Its the skin that controls the look of rockbox in just about every screen except plugins and the WPS. Any time a menu or list is displayed this is the skin you see. It can be boring and show nothing, or it can be as interesting as a full blown WPS.
The most important bit of the <insert skin name here> is that it defines where the rest of the UI sits (the lists, the default viewport for WPS, etc)...

'Look'? 'Screen look'? Or something with 'layout'? Usually, 'skin' or 'theme' is used for something like this, both those words are tabu :-)

fml: Skin sounds like it could be making people think its more than what it is. the name needs to say its not the skin/theme for the entire rockbox, just most of it :/

Ste-: well, its really not the menu/list area that the theme manages, its the stuff that surrounds them.

hmm... "base skin"? then we could use rbs for the extension

I'm kinda thinking "UI skin" myself, "base skin" doesn't seem to roll off the tongue too nicely for me... I think a .rbs extention would work nicely still either way.

It might not directly control how the WPS itself looks, but it does have an impact on on how the WPS is viewed on the screen - since it's viewed alongside/with the WPS on the WPS screen.

Just my $.02 to elaborate on this a little more.

From discussion in IRC we are going to go with "Base Skin" for 3.5 and leave the sbs extension (skin base screen or something), the important thing is to get a better name than custom statusbar.

And yes, you are correct. in fact you dont even need a WPS at all, you could use a blank .wps file and rely entirely on the .sbs.

It's not a frame at all. It's the main skin of Rockbox.

I meant frame in the sense of 'setting' or 'coulisse'. Or is that wrong?
