Personally I think the filesystem is not the issue here, before you rush to restore your iPod using iTunes it might pay to check out this one thing first...
What is the USB HID setting currently?
You can find this setting in Settings/General Settings/System/USB HID
If I remember correctly (from your last thread) you have an iPod Nano 2nd Gen, yes?
I can't speak for everyone, but I personally have exactly the same issue with my 2nd gen Nano (not surprising as the build is still classified as unstable) and turning USB HID off seems to fix this.
Set USB HID to "Off", then reboot the iPod and plug it in to your PC and see if your OS can detect the volume label and drive size correctly (and if your files are visible).
Afterwards try setting it back to "On" and see if this is indeed the issue preventing your iPod from being detected correctly.
