Volume bar

I was wondering if there is a way to have the volume bar show up on volume change in the WPS much like in Apple's firmware for iPod Video 5.5G. I'm aware of the fact that some themes have it implemented using conditional viewports and bitmap strips. Is it possible to have a new WPS tag defined which takes a single bitmap and displays a portion of it depending on the volume level?

It would be pretty much a static progress bar which only changes when volume is changed, if that makes any sense.

There is currently no way to use a single image and only display a portion of it (similar to the progress bar), and I don't think there's any real demand for such a feature since using bitmap strips seems to be effective enough for most people. Besides, the volume indicator bar isn't usually large enough that it would be beneficial to make a WPS token for it similar to the progress bar token.
