Anyone got news about the Zune?
« on: January 21, 2010, 02:54:53 PM »
I got a Zune player from micro$oft, i like it a lot but i hate the fact that i have to use the Zune player to do anything with it... I've lurked as far as i could go with google, but ive found nothing but old and fake informations... I would like to know if anything has been done for it, or if all projects concerning it have been canceled...

There never was a project for it, so it's hard to define it as "cancelled".

It's simply that no-one was ever interested in doing any work on it.

In fact, ive found about Mys Videl who, apperently, in 2006 would have been able to run linux on a zune, and ive found infos about a few other projects, but past 2008, there is just infos about the zune hd that came out in 2009...

To the best of my knowledge, that was a hoax.  There is no successful attempt, that I am aware of, at running 3rd party code on a Zune.

As far as I could make out the "Zune Linux" project was a con to get people to send him free Zunes. Seemed to work too.

When I attempted to buy the domain name, post collapse, (for redirection to rockbox.org) he promptly quoted page rankings and google adsense revenue.  Money-grubbing idiots.
