Sort tracks by album?

(1/1)

Mog:
So I've been using Rockbox on my Sansa e250 for some time now and I love it. But there's just one thing I find annoying and miss from the official firmware. That is sorting all tracks by album.

If I go to Database>Albums>All tracks it sorts my tracks something like this

01 - AAA (Album 1)
01 - AAB (Album 3)
01 - AAC (Album 2)
02 - EEE (Album 3)
02 - HHH (Album 1)
02 - QQQ (Album 2)

and so on, it just grabs all tracks and alphabetizes them while the official firmware has an option to sort tracks like this

01 - AAA (Album 1)
02 - HHH (Album 1)
01 - AAC (Album 2)
02 - QQQ (Album 2)
01 - AAB (Album 3)
02 - EEE (Album 3)

so am I missing some hidden secret option or something because I couldn't find anything relevant to this using Google

Also all tracks are properly tagged so I really don't see where the problem is

GodEater:
What you're missing is the the sorting and searching in Rockbox is entirely customisable. You can write your own tagnavi file which sorts however you like.

Mog:
This? Yeah I've seen this, but it's not exactly written "for dummies". Any simpler guide to creating a working tagnavi_custom.config? ???

Anyone's welcome to correct me, but I don't believe there is...no.

This guide *is* fairly simple, but I guess it could seem daunting to some.
Use that link as a reference, but if you get stuck it may be better to pop into #rockbox on IRC and see if a helpful dev/user can offer you a "blow-by-blow" description on how to achieve your desired effect.

It's like riding a bike, it seems impossible at first, but once you learn how...well, you get the picture.

Mog:
Well I still don't get it no matter how many times I go through it, it just leaves me more confused.
