Sansa e280v2- Rockbox and Charging

I have a question regrading the SANSA e280v2 and I have installed Rockbox and it is working properly, however I had a couple questions.

a) is there a way to charge the sansa through rockbox and not through the original firmware. Whenever i plug the power cord into (usb) the sansa it goes to the original firmware and it charges and I am unable to listen to music at the same time (as is the case with all Sansas). I was wondering if there is a possibilty to plug it in and be able to go to Rockbox during the charging instead of the OF and at the same time listen to music.
b) This goes hand in hand with last question but will the battery charge while in Rockbox?

I looked at the manual and it seems tomers disabled the section explaining how to charge.  I'm not sure why, but it should have this under USB:

    The \dap{} can be powered over USB without connecting to your
    computer by holding \ActionStdUsbCharge{} while plugging in. This
    allows you to continue using the \dap{} normally.

where ActionStdUsbCharge is the center wheel button (IIRC).

The player is switched on and in rockbox when you plug it in while holding select, right?

If i plug in the charger when in Rockbox or when it is it off, it goes to the original firmware, and then i tried the technique of holding the centre button and that still sent me to the original firmware charging screen. I am just hoping to be able to charge and still listen on Rockbox (so i can continue to scrob on last.fm as well). I hope i have gave enough information.

I put a note in the manual making it clear that you cannot boot to rockbox if you plug in USB while the player is off.
