confused ipod accessories question

In the short term, the answer will be no - communication with peripherals is via a serial connection, and that hardware hasn't been reverse-engineered yet on the 4G and later ipods.  But if someone ports Rockbox to the older (1G-3G ipods), then serial communication is possible.

Excellent thanks, i asked as id like to go wireless on my headset but with my iriver h120 the solution is messy mainly as i want to keep using the remote ...i know cake and eat it situation ... and as there are a number of addons in the ipod world which would work i was looking in that direction but i guess i'll hold on and see what happens as i have no development knowledge at all.
