trouble with install on Sansa e280

Can't figure out why  rockbox bootloader install isn't detecting my Sansa e280. I've tried it in both MSC & MTP usb modes, and the unit shows up in "my computer", but not to the sansa bootloader install. Can anyone give me
any tips?

Not until you give more details. Please post the output of the About / Troubleshoot / System Trace dialog.

i have trouble installing rockbox on my sansa e280... i've put it on MSC mode and i've tried it on MTP mode and so i switch it back to MSC mode and i've closed all itunes processes and i get this box when i try to install rockbox

i get a progress box that says

searching for sansa
downloading bootloader file
download finished (cache used).
installing rockbox bootloader
disk is not a sansa (error -1), aborting

what can i do to fix this problem?

I read form somewhere in this forum that I will need to locate the folder with .rockbox extension. I have done that and relocated it to the same window where the rbutil file is located. That is as far as I have gone and I would appreciate your assistance to correctly install Rockbox to my player. Thanks.

Thanks for posting the system trace in the first place. Makes it much easier to check what's going wrong in your case :)

First, you're using an outdated version of Rockbox Utility. I strongly recommend updating, though the error you're experiencing doesn't look like it's related to that. Then, you have enabled Offline Mode. Please disable it (in Configuration / Cache). If it still doesn't work please check the proxy settings. You have selected using the system values (which is the default), but those might be wrong. The trace doesn't show this so I can only guess here. If you don't use a proxy use the "No Proxy" setting in the configuration.

That is not correct. Using Rockbox Utility you shouldn't need to do anything more than connecting your player, configuring it (should work with the Autodetection) and install. No need to mess around with folders manually. However, Rockbox Utility will install some files in a folder called ".rockbox" on your player. If you install manually you need to handle this.
