Looking for an inexpensive SD player to run Rockbox

<< < (2/2)

Mainiak Blaniak:
+1 for Sansa e200.  Been running rockbox on my e250R for better than a year.  Highly recommended.  It does have a proprietary USB cable as was mentioned though.

ThaCrip:
i agree with everyone else.

the Sandisk Sansa e200 series is great if all your concerned with is MUSIC on the player. (it can do video reasonably well considering how small the screen is)

i got a e250 (v1) myself and a 8GB MicroSDHC card. 10GB total space.

i got my Sansa in about June 2008(for about 47 dollars out the door) and then got the MicroSDHC card about a year after that for $19.99.

total cost was around 67 dollars. you can probably get the 4GB model for what i paid for the 2GB model nowadays.

but i figure if your mostly using MP3's on there 10GB seems like it would be way more than enough for the typical user unless you listen to a vast amount of music.

i might as well throw in my two cents...
i am going to agree. the sansa e200 series are great. i've had a e260r running RB for over four years and it works great. i have a 16gb msdhc in it and over 2500 songs, 3 full movies, and a whole hatfull of gameboy games and doom wads.
and other than the small size of the screen, i think its better than an ipod.

as far as price. i paid $40 for a used unit (4gb internal storage). and $60 for the 16gb msdhc. for $100 total.
not too bad for 20gb of space that still has the possibility to expand. and a built in mic and fm tuner.

the only thing i really don't like is the proprietary USB cable. because if it breaks then you have to go out of your way to buy one.

surferpoint9819:
Hi there!

I have recently become aware of the existence of this outstanding piece of software, so I've been looking for a device to test it in. I've found this sansa e260 on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.es/Sandisk-Sansa-e260-4GB-MP3-Player-1-8-LCD-Voice-Record_W0QQitemZ160383091213QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMP3_Player?hash=item255793c20d

Maybe it will be of any help to some of you who, like me, are looking for a player too.

It is refurbished, and has a 01.xx.xx firmware, so I think it's completely ROckboxable. Besides, the price is not too high.

What do you think about it?

Note: sorry if my english is not very understandable, i'm spanish  :P
