[solved] help - after a failed copy from the pc I've a brick
paologab:
Hi
I've right installed rock box via ubuntu/linux on an ipod nano 2nd 4gb (i know is under development)
everything works fine, menus and settings too
after that, because of the usb connection didn't work under linux i tried to connect to windows
there too i'd some problems but i followed the manual and the nano got recognized
so i've created a new directory Music under the root and tried to copy some mp3 (about a dozen).
during the copy there where a message like missed file xyz so on the nano there is 1 song and 1 'broken' file.
l've also disconnected (safely) the nano and played the good song.
then I tried to reconnect via usb, I put the nano in disk mode again but XP propose me to format the media. I answered no.
Now if I connect I've only that question (format?),
Any kind of reset works. When I switch it always appear rhe apple logo and than "use iTunes to restore" than it self switchs off .
Any clues?
thank you
Paolo

Sounds like you should just restore it.

hi
thanks, now I haven't a windows by hand, just a virtualized one that doesn't works
any other way via linux?
If I do a format (fat32, right?), so I can mount via usb, can a virtualizized itunes works? or it can worsen the things?
Kalbintion:
i dont see why a virtual itunes wouldnt work, however it isn't (or shouldn't be) hard to find someone that has a windows copy that could let ya use their computer. offer many windows users out there!

Why yes, there is a way to do it with Linux. Take a look at this page: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IpodManualRestore
