h320 ac input broken> charges with usb, unit went dead, usb wont charge now

pc wont recognize the unit and the usb wont charge it.
i know the battery is good it is a c. sino installed in august and it was working fine.
i believe i ran it down to 0 battery and now the usb wont charge it.
I believe i read something sometime that said if the ac input is busted( MINE IS APART FROM THE BOARD!), and charging with usb only, dont run it all the way down or it wont recharge even a good battery.....
the screen flashes white
sometimes
and others it is black..
i wonder if one of those ac adapters>usb will juice it up or will i have to install a fresh battery and go from there.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How exactly is it broken? If it's just a busted solder point, you should be able to open the machine (obviously, you're no stranger to that) and re-solder your AC jack to the mainboard. Apply some JB Quick epoxy all around for stability and you're good.
As for the AC>USB adapters, I don't know if that will charge it; not familiar with the charging circuitry. I do remember breaking out my H340 after 14 months in storage (it was in storage, not me) and not being able to charge it until I found my AC adapter.

Make sure you have the correct power adaptor! many people have fried their iRiver players by using the wrong voltage/polarity PSU.

Having more than one H300, I also regularly find that the battery in one of them has run down over time and won't turn on the player. I have always had success just recharging using the AC adaptor (always the official one). So I think you probably needn't worry about the battery being no longer usable, if you can just get it recharged. Of course, that's the whole problem, isn't it.
However, I have no experience trying to recharge using the USB once the battery has run down too far to operate the player.

pressed a button while plugging in usb.
finally got the bootloader to tell me battery low.
then i pressed rec and pwr and i really don't know how but the iriver O/F
charging screen is on.
apparently charging.
will report back on the charge.
pulled it this morning when it said complete via iriver o/f screen.
rockbox said 84% charge.
back onto the charger with rockbox charging screen now.................
