Rockbox and Market
« on: December 30, 2009, 04:16:53 PM »
Lack of fantasy title.

One day back in a while, i was thinking about Rockbox in general and how they are available to Players.

Normally, Rockbox becomes available to player generally when they have been in the market for a while and don't have much time left in Production. Thus making it always 1 step behind when coming to availability.

As some have and some have not, realized that the Rockbox firmware are way above any other Firmware avaiable to players today when comparing to functionality. And not far behind at all when it comes to stability either (Some may argue that Rockbox is more stable, and i Personally agree).

With this in mind, i was thinking: What if Rockbox created their own brand Media Players (DAP), featuring Rockbox as defeault firmware. Meaning that they are loaded with Rockbox on Purchase, also built around Rockbox. I know theres some peoples trying to create a Rockbox Player, which is not Official as i know it (Correct me if i'm wrong).

Or, if Rockbox partnered with any big company today in the MP3 Player (DAP) industry. Have you ever gotten any offer like this?

I personally think that Rockbox with a few tweaks "Making it easier to use", Including a simple "Show/Hide advanced options". Would have GREAT potential in the market to be honest.

Anyone ever thought something like this? Would like to hear what the Rockbox team have in mind (Or anyone else for that matter).

Discuss freely.
