Is it possible to charge your ipod 5.5Gen and use it normally at the same time?

Hi there,

Is it possible to charge your ipod and use it normally at the same time? I checked the user manual, but I didn't find anything that would allow me to do this. Is it possible?

Hold menu when you plug the USB lead in. I'm fairly sure I saw this in the manual, but as I couldn't find it when looking, it may be better placed in a different section
