unusual issue with e260r...
« on: December 24, 2009, 03:28:01 PM »
i'm having this issue where, every now and then the the player randomly decides its plugged in and charging and the battery is dead.
the battery is never actually dead when this happens. the battery could be at 100%-0%, any where between. it doesn't matter. it can still happen.
and its definitely not plugged in when this happens.
and if i try to turn it off and then back on i get that screen telling me the battery is too low and is shuts down.
and if i try plugging it in after i turn it off. nothing happens. it doesn't turn on.
and if i plug it in while its still on when this happens. then when i unplug it it locks up.

the only way i've found to fix this is to open the case, remove and replace the battery.

this fix tends to be inconvenient when i'm on the go and don't have the right screw driver to open the case with.

any suggestions/explanations/solutions? thanks.  :)

edit: seems someone is having a similar problem with an ipod. something about car mode and such...
mine is not in car mode.

I would format the internal drive and install the newest version of Rockbox.

Would be easier and quicker than messing with settings and trying to fix the problem that way.

If you do re-install and the problem reappears I'd suspect a hardware problem.

Did it ever work right or was it always bugging out?

You could uninstall Rockbox and see if you have similar issues with the OF.  If you do see similar behavior with the OF then this will strongly indicate a hardware fault.

That neither supports nor refutes hardware as being a cause.
