ipod 3G wired Remote

Hi all,

My Ipod 3g won't restore and I get the apple logo and that's about it. However I installed Rockbox and it works no problem at all. The thing is I use it in my car and really need my wired remote to change tracks etc... BUT it is doesn't work at all.
I searched the forum and couldn't find any info on if it works or not ,apologies if I missed it.

Is there a plugin I can install to get it to work ? If I can't get the remote to work its too fiddly to use it in the car so I will have to bin it as it won't work with the formware it was intended to work with i.e Apple but it works fine with open source software (go figure !!) but without the remote capability

Unless things have changed recently, 3G accessories aren't supported. See http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IpodFAQ#Do_inline_remote_controls_extern

Unfortunately, the Ipod 3G with Rockbox doesn't support its internal UART, which is required in order to communicate with external accessories...

Thanks guys, having used Rockbox I think I'll keep the Ipod afterall. Without RB it doesn't boot anyway. Just have to forget about the remote :-(
