RB in Car Mode --> Dead battery.
floepie:
I have RB set to turn off upon loss of power in 'car mode'. It's handy for podcasts if I forget to pause or shutoff the ipod when exiting the car. Anyway, if I leave the car for 2 days, the battery winds up dying on me, and inevitably, it power cycles continuously if power/charging is applied after a dead ipod battery. It then becomes necessary to switch over the hold button in order to boot up the original firmware in order to properly charge it. Is this common? Does RB use a standby mode when "off" that would drain the battery?
Llorean:
"Car mode" alone doesn't cause the player to turn off. What's the idle power off time set to?
floepie:
Oh yes, sorry, I have the time-out set to 1 minute. I tested whether the battery was being drained with a manual shut-off, and even then, the battery drains faster than I would expect without any usage.
JdGordon:
does your car plug stay powered the whole time? I know my car keeps the power to one of the cig plugs all the time (even when the car is off) which means rockbox wont know when the car is "off" to pause it
floepie:
Thanks, but yeah, the ipod stops and shuts down after a minute when shutting off the car.
