WAV Playback doesn´t work on Archos Recorder V1
(1/1)
lorenzv:
Hello,
I am running latest Rockbox for Archos Recorder V1 (build from 14. December 2009). Whenever I try to play a WAV file, the screen with the informations of the WAV file just pops up shortly (e.g. Length: 3:24, Samplerate 44100, etc) and then closes one second later and I am back in the file-browser. No playback of the WAV starts. Not any WAV file I have on the player has ever played yet, though they are all 44,1Khz 16bit Stereo, from different sources (CD, downloaded, etc). So it can´t be a format-problem of a specific file. Since no WAV plays at all.
Btw, this was not just in the recent build, but in all rockbox builds I had on this player (starting middle of November).

Is noone having this issue? Yesterday I´ve upgraded to the latest Rockbox Build from 20. December and for the first time it did play a WAV file! The strange thing is, afterwards (and until now) it doesn´t play any WAV files (not even the one it played) anymore. The same problem as described above happens. THough really strange it was able to play the WAV file one time after the firmware upgrade. Any help from the developers would be appreciated.

Hello,
using rockbox cvs-050831, I can't play WAV files either.
As FLAC is not supported due to lack of docs for Micronas chip and lack of Flac decoder for SH1 yet, I'm very interested in WAV for this device.

caramou,
you are using a 5.5 years old build and it simply predates WAV playback support on these targets (which was implemented in mid 2007 if I remember correctly). If you want to try it, you need to update to something current - be aware that a lot has changed since and if you flashed your builds to ROM or RAM, the update process is a bit more involved.
Another thing I'd like to mention is that WAV playback works but listening to a few files in a row is not as convenient as listening to a playlist of MP3s because WAV is only done as a plugin for now and files need to be selected individually, there is no way to build a playlist.
I haven't seen the problems of the original poster on my Ondio though, I wonder if there is something unusual to the files like (non-standard) tags or so.
