Organization question
« on: December 13, 2009, 12:57:35 PM »
OK, am a brand-spanking new RB user so here goes:

I have a 80G Ipod that I haven't used in awhile and now I do. My computer runs XP Pro x64 and so far I can't find a ituens that will install/run on it. Any help on that problem would be apprreciated too but that's another issue.
I have been using floola past couple days to add/remove to my IPOD but today I installed RB. I ran the intialize db feature and it found I'm sure all the songs/audibooks I have which is about 2500 I think. Now I want to add artwork and organize using the /artist/album scheme but my problem is when looking under files, I don't see anything. I plugged it into my computer and I see the ipod/control dir which I'm sure the music is located. How can I change that by putting the music into the dir structure I want for effiency and ability to add artwork? Do I have to start from scratch? With not being able to use itunes, can I just delete the ipod_control/Music and ipod_control/artwork dir's and start from scratch?

Yes.  If you have you stuff organized on your computer, the easiest way will be to copy that organization onto your player.  Alternatively, if the files are tagged, many programs can copy them into folders based on tags (for example tag&rename or foobar).

Ok so I did that then I added just 1 album to the Pod. Now I run intialize DB again but it seems to be taking a excesssively long time with just 12 tracks on the pod compared to when I first did it with over 2600 songs on. Should I be concerned?
