ipod mini sound settings

Hello, I'l looking for some decent sound settings for the ipod mini 2G.
I've tried everything, sound quality is still so bad (I had some tempory little deaf problems because off the high frequencies that aren't clear I think).
My 5 yaers old gsm has better sound quality, that's why i'm searcing for a good setting.
