Despite the H120 being a black-and-white target with a screen size of 160x128 pixels, the page lists four themes made for color targets (Autobot Glass v1.4, UniCatcherv32, simple, and Simple Green), one of which isn't even the correct screen size (UniCatcherv32 is 220x176 pixels).

Would you say this qualifies as a bug, Domonoky? I can list more instances like this if it helps...

If the .wps does not use viewports with colour parameters, a 160x128 colour theme will work on the greyscale H100. If it also doesn't use a backdrop (with %X) and album art, it will even work on the monochrome M:Robe100 display....    I just upped the Autobot theme's download counter, just for looking at the .wps file and it doesn't use viewports at all and hence will work on the H100.

So except the UniCatcher theme showing up on this page, this is not a bug - my guess for the UniCatcher problem is some hidden connection through an .rwps (which H300 and H100 share, the former with a main screen resolution of 220x176), which would also explain why this theme doesn't appear wrongly on the other 160x128 greyscale targets' pages.

Of course the colour theme will look a bit differently because the colour images will be scaled down to 4 greys and I can understand the confusion. This is the reason for my first wish for the theme page - that it can supply screenshots for themes....

I think the UniCatcherV32 showing up on the h120 page is a bug, i have to investiage why that happens. The color ones showing up on grayscale targets is correct, but should probably improved by showing greyscale screenshots.

About updateing themes: Yes it is intended that all statistics are reset to 0, because internally its treated as new theme with the same name. (The old one still exists, but is hidden).
Maybe i could try to take over download counts and rankings from the updated theme, will need to investigate how complicated that would be.

Are ratings for old versions of themes really accurate for new versions anyway? Sometimes the updated theme can have new features or even a changed layout to fit something new.

Are themes coded for color targets compatible with targets that have grayscale screens, though (and vice versa)?

If not, I suggest that the themes site have a way to recognize the difference between mono, grayscale, and color contributions (and not just the difference between screen size), so grayscale targets only show grayscale themes, etc.

A grayscale target will load and show a theme made for a color target, but obviously only in grayscale. Hence the suggestion to provide screenshots of what it would look like.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Backdrops will work on greyscale (not on monochrome) - and I already explained the restrictions in my previous post which was before epithetless' second question. The vice-versa case will also work if there are no viewports defined.

I actually wanted to explain my idea about remote WPS handling but am afraid that then the answer will get lost (or ignored) again.  :-\

Sorry, pixelma, I'd missed your previous post until now. I think the link in my notification email brought me straight to Domonoky's post (the one following yours), so it escaped my attention. Thanks for the explanations.

A button or something to report blatant copyright infringement might be useful..

hey just so you know, the "sort by rating" feature isnt working, instead it sorts it by number of votes. i saw this in the ipod video page.

doesnt bother me but thought someone might want to change it (i dont know how:P)

Thanks,

Another one down.

Multiple screenshots (up to 3 extra ones) are now possible. They are shown in the mouseover, every 1.5seconds a new image.

I see the ability to vote/rate themes has been removed, but previous ratings and vote counts remain. Is this a permanent change?

The vote/rate button is still on the single theme page (just click on the themename).
I wanted to reduce clutter in the theme list, and put all extra details into the single theme page.

Ha! I never realized single theme pages existed...I guess I always assumed clicking on the theme name would yield the same effect as clicking on the screenshot (i.e. prompting a download). Or perhaps that's how it used to work, and the single theme page is a new addition? Either way, thanks for broadening my horizons, Domonoky. :D
