Llorean:
Actually, ratings can be made useful with context (for example - Netflix uses similarity in users ratings of things they've both rated to extrapolate how one user would like things similar users have rated but they haven't yet). So no, they aren't always contextless.

But my point was "as long as there's no context, there's really no benefit in caring about them enough to try to put in efforts to avoid people manipulating them, since they have no meaning anyway."

Lots of people do like to use them though, regardless of whether they are theoretically useful or not, and I think it'd be useful to put in some simple anti-manipulation steps if it is not too difficult.  It isn't an area to waste too much time on though.

Biont:
What bugs me is that devices with the same screen size share the same themes atm.

I made a touchscreen theme for Cowon D2 and it also shows up for the iPod Video, on which it can't be used (and I *hope* that's the reason for the terribly low rating ;D)

I know the screen size thing has worked good for quite some time, but in this particular case, it only causes confusion...

GodEater:
Why can't it be used on the iPod?

Biont:
Well, it *can* be used as in "it works" (at least I think so)

It's just that it doesn't make much sense to use a touchscreen theme on a non-touch device
