DataBase indexing custom user-defined meta tags
(1/1)

Hey,
The idea is fairly simple, but i don't know whether it's plausible at all:
Currently the database indexes standard meta tags, and custom.config queries results on these.
Would it be possible at all to have the database index custom, user-defined tags and use them to organize the database display structure?
The functionality i'm looking for resembles that of foobar, specifically the $meta(NAME) tag that reads a custom meta tag.
cheers.

Sure its possible, not currently though. It would require some coding to do so. See the development section of the wiki here: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/DocsIndex#For_Developers to learn about how to set up your build envirnment and how to obtain the rockbox source code.

Thanks for a quick reply.
A question to somebody knowledgeable: how much work is required to make a database code update that works on my particular build compatible with the other build flavours and model variations?
I could attempt at modifying the code myself, but i'd very much like to have somebody watch over so that to make sure i don't screw up and that the changes could be eventually incorporated into the official release.
