iPOD with RB and car radio with USB port on front panel

(1/2) > >>

Deyva:
Hello,

today, they delivered my two new iPODs (one is iPOD video 30G and the second one is iPOD video 80G).

I have Sony radio in my car with USB port on front panel. I'm usually plugging in thumbdrive with MP3's and it works without any problems.

Today, I've tried to install RockBox to my 30G iPOD and then tried to connect it to my front panel USB in car. iPOD goes to disk mode I guess and then there is USB device detected on my radio. However, it founds MP3 files and plays it - the only problem is that it plays for few seconds, then a second gap, then again plays few seconds and then again gap, etc. etc....

I've tried to connect also the second 80G iPOD with original FW to my car radio and it found some weird folder and filenames, however it plays MP3's from my iPOD without problems - that is the way I would like to use iPOD in my car.

My car radio is Sony CDX-GT430U, iPODs Video 30 and 80 gigs, using standard iPOD USB cable.

I've read many topics here, but I'm not sure if I understand this topic well...

May I ask someone to tell me if there is any solution for that? I just need to connect my iPOD with RB to my car radio USB port as another "thumbdrive" and play MP3 files smoothly without gaps.

Thanks a lot in advance.

D.

I would just use the OF USB mode if it works better.

Deyva:
actually, I don't like using iTUNES and that's why I've installed rockBox to my 30G iPOD... because I prefer just drag and drop copying of MP3 files to player.

Tomorrow I will try to play with RB settings, but I'm not sure if the settings may affect my "issue"...

Has anyone any experience with similar issue to mine?

I didn't say to use iTunes, I just said try using the OF for USB mode.  Its not like the OF won't see the same hard disk as rockbox does . . .

My car stereo tends to fight against anything with its own operating system (which makes me jealous of even your partial success). I'm with Saratoga, though--just keep the Hold switch on when you plug your iPod into your car stereo, and the Apple firmware should start in USB mode, at which point you can browse your drag & dropped files through the stereo.
