Runtime Error 70, Setup files corrupted

(1/1)

JoelIrwin:
On A Sansa E280 - I upgraded from 3.3 to 3.4 and started getting:

title bar "dshf43erd" text - runtime error '70': permission denied

and also

title bar "error" text - the setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program.

every time I plug it in to a USB port AFTER booting to 3.4.  Does not happen on the Sansa OS.

So I went back to 3.3 and am still getting Setup corrupted messages.

So I must have done something on this machine to cause the problem?  (perhaps not even Sansa related).

Its not the cable - tried two different cables.

What makes the problem more 'interesting' is that it happens just on my desktop and not laptop - so something I installed is obviously getting in the way.

Any ideas or seen this issue?

It's not clear where this message is being printed.  Can you clarify that?

JoelIrwin:
it appears that this message is initiated when the E280 is plugged in to the USB port.  Something starts the "Autorun.exe" program and the first error message with the 'dshf43erd' title bar and the 'runtime error 70' comes from the autorun.exe. process which starts from the sansa device root directory.  The next dialog error message about the setup files being corrupted comes from the process zende.exe which comes from /windows/system32.

Hope this helps,
Joel

Usually random EXEs with weird  file names running at random in the Windows folder means your PC got owned and you need to break out the malware scanner and/or reformat.

GodEater:
Why are you even keeping an autorun.exe on your sansa?
