More play options?!?

I finally tried Rockbox and I sincerely believe it is the best OS for a DAP since the Rio Karma (which was so ahead of it's time).

FINALLY I have some of those play options I have been pining for.

HISTORY >  RECENTLY PLAYED, NEVER PLAYED, FORGOTTEN FAVORITES

One other one I would love to see:

DATABASE
> Play >  GENERATE RANDOM PLAYLIST

Maybe have options for a certain amount of time or a certain number of songs.
Generate Random Playlist of
>30 min
>60 min
>120 min

or
> 10 songs
> 30 songs
> 100 songs

Just a thought.

lol @ RTFM because I read every single page of that huge manual!!! Seriously, every page.

I didn't see an option to just >Generate > Random Playlist.
Yes, I do see under DATABASE > Artist a random option (and under Genre a RANDOM)  but that seems to just take you to ONE random artist or ONE random genre. I want to generate a playlist that adds random artists\genres to a playlist, not a selection from a certain artist or a specific genre.

Would be nice if RANDOM was at the root level not UNDER artist, or genre.

OK, not exactly sure how I did it but I just loaded a playlist that is completely random.  Just need to play with it more, apparently. Still an RB newb.

well you have a few options..
1) turn on the "Recursively Insert Directories" setting then goto the folder you have your music in (file browser) and context menu > insert shuffled
2) use the database > tracks > random

What I did when I thought I had a good shuffle was not really shuffled.
I went to DATABSE> A to Z> TRACKS and picked a letter. That's not bad, but not quite a "real" shuffle.

1) Checked that setting, it was already on.
FILES > MUSIC. There are a few album folders and 2500 tracks. Pull up CONTEXT MENU and my only options are:
Playlist
Catalog
Rename/cut/copy
Delete/Create
Properties
Set as recording
Add to shortcuts

2) DB > TRACKS and oddly I have no RANDOM folder.
Just has the tracks folder and then like 15 tracks that all say <untagged>. Below those my correctly tagged files are listed.

Apparently that is my issue with DB > Random.

When I to to any other folder I see <All Tracks> , <Random> and <untagged>

I will try rebuilding the DB after I fix those 15 or so tags.

Context menu on either a folder OR a DB category will allow you to..

(enter context menu)->'playlist'->'Insert Shuffled'
