Help my new RockBox is a HD frenzy
« on: November 22, 2009, 07:33:17 PM »
Hi all I have an iriver H140. ;)
I just put some 1600 more files in 3 folders on my on my rockboxed iriver with newly updated rockbox. I have about 8 gig free of 40 gig on the hd.
I have a problem when i start to play a file among the ones that i have added and also other files.

When i play a file among those the hd starts to massively read and clicking. The controls is unresponsive for a while while it is busy reading. Its about 5-10 seconds before i can get a command in, the hd doesn't stop reading for about 3- 5 min and it is very problematic for the battery. I have tried to analyse the hd for defrag but the windows utility doesn't report that it need to be defraged. I have scanned the hard drive for bad sectors and file system errors but no problems there either.

Lastly I tried with the native iriver firmware and there i have no problems nor with this lagging, hd frenzy or playback.

What could be the problem? Anybody knows? :-[

Try enabling the dircache, or perhaps putting the files in more than 3 folders.
