Update of apple's ipod database (iTunesDB) by Rockbox?
(1/1)
msui772:
Before I start, I want to thank you all for an amazing piece of software. :)
Is it possible for Rockbox to update the Ipod iTunesDB (on the ipod) so that when I begin to add music to my Ipod by copying files across (as recommended to make it browsable by the file browser in Rockbox) I will be able to see the files in the apple firmware?
I would love to just use Rockbox - which is quite amazing by the way :-) - BUT my Alpine car radio is not compatible so I have to reboot to apple firmware before using my ipod in my car. Currently it seems I am doomed to continue adding music in the notoriously hidden directories using Itunes (or Winamp).
Any suggestions welcome :-)
Michael
P.S. Sorry if this is covered in the forum somewhere - I have trawled the manual and searched the site without success.

Rockbox does not do this.

i have a similar problem and a partial solution;
I have a alpine head unit as well (x100 i think) which only works as far as i can tell in the ipoo OF. However as most people on rockbox.org, i cant stand it so i need rockbox on it as well.
I wiped the ipod (had to use itunes+ updater :-[ ), i then used mediamonkey to put all my music on. after that i put rockbox on it. after initializing the database, the tags are working properly and i can use my rockpod in my car as well. the only problem that I've found is that because of the stupid way ipod organize their music, all of the album art is wrong.
can anyone think of a possible way around this?
Thanks,
-Tom
Chronon:
Can't you store the album art as "/.rockbox/albumart/artist-albumtitle.ext"?
