Scroll wheel seeking on ipods

(1/1)

xuperduper:
Let's take advantage of Apple's ingenious touch scroll wheel and use it to easily seek through songs/files/videos. Another way to fast forward or rewind to a point in time, in a song.

The apple's original firmware has this implemented and its something that makes jumping to parts in songs SUPER easy, something that defines the ease of use of the ipod compared to other players.
Scroll wheel seeking is especially useful when wanting to jump to a certain time in videos and big single file mix mp3s.

ON the original ipod FW, its implemented by clicking the center button once to switch to seek mode, click it again and it goes to rating, click it again and it goes to volume control.

A possible implementation would be to make the MENU button go back instead of the center button, that way you can use the center button to switch between volume and seek modes, just like the apple FW(firmware).

I hope you can implement this. It's one of the things I most miss about the apple firmware and extremely useful for ease of use.

THANKS! :)

This has been discussed many times, and there was once a patch to implement it:

Menu and select *both* have functions already in the while playing screen, neither of them are free...
