Database will not finish!

I am trying to get all of the files in my 20GB 4th Gen iPod to be compiled in the Database. When I goto the DB it says "Database is not ready yet..." so I initialize it. It was hanging at 4309 items but now that I have the newest version it hangs at 679 or something like.

I could let it sit for days and it would do nothing more when it reaches that magic number. Is there anything I can do to get rockbox to work? Or is it my iPod?
