Just upgraded to 3.4 on my sansa e series radio presets?
(1/1)
beatnik:
I have created my own .fmr file for my location and I don't know how to get it to work. Their is no more fmpresets folder? anyway I have been rockboxed for about 2 years now and I think I will understand how to do it if someone can tell me. The WiKi page with the presets does not have the correct info anymore as i even created a fmpresets folder and when i reboot it still cant find any presets?
Thanks for the help guys
beatnik:
I am only posting this as I have not had any reply's so maybe I can ask some more questions that someone might know the answer to. I have used .fmr files before so I know what Should be done for older versions but Since my recent upgrade which has been long overdo (i forget what version it was but it was one of the first releases with cabbie WPA as default, which I still think is the best WPA although I use a modified ver as my blue wheel light on my sansa looks good with the Blue cabbie WPA)
???
Does the radio preset function work in this version?
I have used them before so has it been disabled in this particular version?
What would I have to do to load my custom .fmr file for this version as their is no folder I added one and basically used the FAQ and I have gotten no results. I do listen to radio so this is helpful for me to have the presets all named and such. I have been trying on my own for a while know and have not been able to do it.
If the preset function has been disabled in this latest version what version would I have to fall back to to get the radio presets and still be as current as possible? This would be a last resort as I am Very happy with 3.4 but their is one flaw in it for me at least.
I am posting this as I am on my knees pleading with someone for help. IDK what to do and I really want to fix this.
I really hope someone has an answer for me out their.
???
Maybe I am not getting an answer because it is in the wrong place?
Should I make a topic in another forum on this board?
I am asking here in general as I did not know what category this problem would belong too.
I appreciate anyone who reads this even if you cant help I just need one person that knows what I need to read this and reply then I will be happy as a clam, ;D Thank you!
(BTW I am sorry for the extra post but my topic fell far from the first page and I had things to add and wanted to bump it although I know Bumping threads is not good form but IDK what else i could have done) Thank you and forgive me if this bothered you. MOST OF ALL THANK IN ADVANCE to ANYONE who can help me.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Yes

The fmpresets folder is not included in the Rockbox build. If you add presets manually and then save the presets, it will automatically save to ./rockbox/fmpresets/preset01.fmr, unless you change the folder or filename.
If you already have a presets file, you can manually create the fmpresets folder in .rockbox and copy your file to that folder.
In Rockbox, browse to the .rockbox/fmpresets folder and "play" your presets file. This will start your radio with the selected file and add the setting to your .rockbox/config.cfg file.
Of course, you could also just add the line to your config.cfg file manually. The line should look like this:
--- Code: ---fmr: /.rockbox/fmpresets/preset01.fmr
--- End code ---
Be sure to use your own presets filename in the example above if it is not preset01.fmr
BTW, when you upgrade, you do not need to delete the .rockbox directory. If you just unzip the rockbox.zip file to your device, it will keep all of your current settings.

I think it would be very good if the default Rockbox distribution included an empty fmpresets folder so that users would know where to put their custom fmr files. And maybe place a readme file into that folder (but that's optional of course). Also, this topic is not described well in the manual.
