Iaudio X5L remote and v3.4
(1/1)
hugson:
The lower wheel (used for volume while playing) now works opposite to before. When navigating lists, turning the wheel to the right goes UP the list instead of down, and vice versa!
And, for the first time, the remote screen goes blank and refuses to display anything at all until the IAudio is turned off and back on.
All in all, IMHO, Rockbox v3.4 is by far the worst release I've seen. It begins to resemble Microsoft's new versions of various software where new bugs appear, perhaps to keep us all entertained?

Don't be a pratt. Insulting the people who give up massive amounts of free time to both develop and support Rockbox is hardly likely to make anyone want to help you is it? Try being civil and not making stupid statements in the future.

I also think, that hugson is not very kind with reporting bugs.
I just want to confirm this bug, as someone in the german rockbox forum also mentioned it but there was no one with this device to test it.
Hugson please report this bug in flyspray, so that the developers can fix it.

Just a note - the changed controls are not a bug.
The directions were swapped on purpose - and it makes sense if you see the thing as a wheel as you seem to do reading the description. Then "right" on a wheel that is positioned on the bottom of the remote equals turning the wheel backwards hence going up or backwards in the list makes sense. Another reason for this change was the use of this remote on the M3 which makes the controls between the main target and the remote equal (and on the M3 the remote button mapping was already done this way so the change unified the use of the same remote on different targets), the M3 and M5/X5 have different button layout on the main targets though so this reason is not as obvious on the latter two. Your choice is to either get used to it or compile your own Rockbox with that change reverted. I once read a thread of an M3 user who first was disappointed too as it was different to the original firmware but after a while liked the controls better this way.
The blanked out display is a bug though ,worth reporting in a nice way. If I understand correctly that this is a problem which happened before, then only willing users can help fixing this bug. The problem I'm thinking of had to do with timing and this is different between players. It once was adjusted with the help of a non-developer who had a target where the bug was obvious while the developer did not see any problems on his device. Now maybe timing has changed due to some other development again and the problems have reappeared.
P.S. The tone of the edit in the first post almost turned me away but I don't want things to be reported as bugs that are not. I'm also not sure if this topic belongs into the hardware section (the added report probably does, the initial post does not).

I have the remote control problem too. Attach youtube video, sorry 4 quality, it's originally 3GP from Sony Ericsson, but U can see in the end, when I start playing MP3, the remote controll screen -> blank. Help only turn off and turn on X5L. Don't know what can I do. Thank you ;)
