iriver H10 BRICKED
(1/1)
HardyRO:
so yesterday i loaded rockbox on my iriver h10 20 gig,
worked fine, loaded it up. then i decided to put some songs on it from window media player, halfway through sync. it says there was a problem, so i unplug the iriver,
now when it tries to boot up it says "system files are missing"
firmware installer from iriver does not detect the device in emergency mode
rockbox does not reconize the device "configuration ivalid"
windows says its a removable disk, when i goto remove hardware saftley, it says usb mass storage device, when i click on display device compenents it says "generic volume" and "iriver iriver 20gb usb something something"
if i click on the drive in my computer, the "removable disk" it empty, 0 bytes used 0 bytes unused , nothing can be copied to it, i cant format it. nothing
im really banging my head against a wall now, spend 9 hours straight trying to fix this... if someone could help me that be awesome
also chkdsk, doesnt reconize the drive

Sounds like it might be a file system error, I've had something like that happen once and the way I fixed it was to do a complete reformat. Assuming the drive will be formatted you may have to do this, then reinstall Rockbox, and the OF if you so choose. Just make sure if you do reformat to set the file system to FAT32 (I forgot to do this and ended up formatting it as NTFS, which didn't end up working, and I wondered why until I realied the file system was incorrect...) Also, make sure to set the disk label as H10 (I don't know if this really matters but that's how it is usually and better to be safe...)
HardyRO:
thanks for your reply, but as i mentioned it cannot be formatted
im really really annoyed. as i dont understand why this has happened when i had rockbox running on it already, then all of a sudden it died when trasfering music via wmp
you cant format it, it shows up as o bytes
karashata:
Well, had I looked a bit closer I might have seen that bit in your first post... Anyway, I don't have a clue then what the problem could be unless the drive is shot but somehow the PC is still recognizing that it's there. If you're really feeling adventurous you could look for a USB hard drive enclosure for the 1.5 inch hard drive the H10 20GB uses and try to connect it to your computer that way. If the drive still doesn't show up properly then it's probably toast, and you'll need to replace the drive in your H10 with a new one. If the drive were to show up, though, it would mean that something is very seriously wrong with your H10 and you'll probably need to replace it...
