Favorites list
« on: November 01, 2009, 07:16:47 PM »
a favorites list in the main menu would be nice;
holds shortcuts to your favorite games/apps/playlists
all in one spot;

and I know about shortuts, but I have a lot of stuff in the root so it's hard to find the link.

you can create shortcuts and then that shortcuts.lnk file is created on the root of the device.

yea, I know about that but I have alot in the root, and often times I left off browsing in some random folder;

so something in the main menu would be more accessible.

Yeah, but the more stuff added to the main menu, the more clutter *everyone* has.

Why not just clean up your root?

of course, if we ever allowed full customisation of whats in the main menu *everyone* would be happy.... but alas...

Would it help much if "Recent Bookmarks" was generalised to "Recently Used" and covered all file selections?

This would make it harder to use for bookmarks though.  For instance I never click on a bookmark file, I use the recent bookmarks list.  If this were recent files then my bookmarks would be swamped, making recent bookmarks a bit pointless.

Remember that the goal is often stated to be best at being a music/audio player, not a full OS. That would mean not sacrificing ease of bookmark use for ease of recent plugins and other files.

why does it have to be one or the other? seriously?
It could just as easily be "remember the last X used files with the extensions ".xxx, .yyy, .zzz, etc", no sacrafice for bookmarking, and a pretty nice new feature for everyone else...

I don't object to it being extended, so long as I can have it just for bookmarks as it is currently :)
