Sansa E200 (v1) - USB Problem. Can not access files or reformat. Please HELP??!?

UGH! I REALLY need help and I hope someone can help me (or, at the very least, if unable to help, point me in the right direction to where I can go). If anyone can help me to fix this problem, I will even make a donation to Rockbox to show my appreciation. Upset beyond belief, so please bear with me as I try to recount what happened..

Last night, I plugged my Sansa E200 (v1) into my laptop, as I wanted to add some music. As soon as I plugged it in, a window box popped up saying "AutoPlay", and it began to scan my files. Normally, I just let it run through, but it was getting late and I wanted to get things done before it got much later. I hit "Cancel", hoping it would abort. All it did was lock things up. I tried to disconnect it by clicking on the connection icon, but it wouldn't work. Gave me an error msg, but my mind is frazzled - can't remember the wording. Sorry.

At this point, I didn't know what else to do as it was locked, so I turned off the computer, figuring I could just remove it once it shut down. No luck! So, figuring nothing else could happen worse, I unplugged it.

Now, when I plug it in, all I get is the USB connection icon on my screen, but that's it. When I got to click on "SANSA" via MY COMPUTER, it won't access it. Say it is empty, but it won't let me reformat it. Sames goes for SD flash disk I have inside as well.

I tried this on both my laptop at home as well as the desktop at work - both experiences were the same.

Is there any way to fix this?? Or just I should sit down and cry at this point?  :'(

Does a hard reset (hold power for 15+ seconds, and then turn it back on again) fix it at all ?

Unfortunately, not quite. It will take me back to the main Rockbox screen, but it's a locked system. I can not change, add, or delete everything. Essentially, what's on the player is it. Can not even add themes or doing anything else.

Is this in rockbox USB or the retail firmware's USB?

I was able to get it back to its original firmware, but now I can't get it to reinstall Rockbox. Rockbox Installer won't work. Plus, it won't read my SD card. This is absolutely horrific! I have no idea how to fix it.  :'(

Also, don't know if this helps any, but when I click on the Rockbox Utility, it will not recognize that there is a Sansa connected. Even after the reformatting.

Did you put it in MSC mode?

Yes.

I also did the bit where you put in the .MI4 file, plus the sansa.fmt. But, now, when I turn it on it shows the Sansa load screen, then it freezes there. I have to hold down the power button to release it, then it locks at the "Goodbye" screen.

At this point, I am wondering if I am not better off just buying another one, as this is starting to sound like a bloody hopeless cause at this point.
