Trouble installing on Ipod Photo 30GB
(1/1)
xuperduper:
Hi, I'm having trouble installing rockbox complete installation with the utility on my ipod photo 30GB. (Yes, that's right its an ipod photo that's 30GB not 20GB, is that causing problems..?)
Basically it says "Failed to add bootloader"
Here's what I did
1. install itunes
2. restore ipod
3. uncheck auto open itunes when plugged in, enable disk use
4. i have admin privileges
5. run rockbox utility
6. i have "failed to add bootloader" utility
Ipod info:
Version: 1.2.1
Model: PS492AAABA
It's an Ipod Photo 30GB (not u2, white and regular looking)
OS:
windows xp home
MY LOG IS ATTACHED
If you need more info about my OS/ipod just ask.
I hope you can help.
:) Thanks.
GodEater:
Are you doing the "Full install", or are you running the steps one at a time in RBUtil ? (i.e. install bootloader, and then install rockbox)
xuperduper:
Full install. However, I tried to just install the bootloader after this failed, and it also failed as well.
Also, I tried installing it the manual way via this:
http://download.rockbox.org/release/3.4/rockbox-ipodcolor-3.4.zip
It booted up to rockbox just fine. Weird, huh? So do I get something better if I do it the automatic way...
I wonder why it fails to do it automatically via the utility.
*edit, tried the auto install on another computer, worked like a charm.
The variable seems to be the computer I was using, the USB works on and off for the ipod.. but works fine on other usb devices.. weird.
Wait... now I remember, this toshiba has problem with usb + ipod photo (maybe other ipods too) I remember talking to a tech over the phone and he said I need to make my usb 2.0 to 1.0 in order for it to not be buggy with the ipod.
Well, I figured out the problem! :)
